What to visit for 2 days from Luxor to Abu Simbel?

Looking for a non-traditional tour?

That's why Magic Carpet Travel has prepared this tour to Abu Simbel from Luxor, including the marbles that exist along the way.

What's special about this tour?

Unlike traditional 2-day tours offered by others, we offer our unique travelers like you a comprehensive experience and the story behind the ancient Egyptian gods:

  • Horus
  • Sobek
  • Goddess Isis.

Not only that, but also the majestic work of King Ramesses II in Abu Simbel and the stories behind it, and each of the other temples as you head south to Abu Simbel from Luxor.

What are the key highlights and destinations of this 2-day tour?

  • Edfu Temple, the second-largest temple in Egypt and is dedicated to the god Horus, and is depicted at the temple as two large granite falcon statues guarding the entrance.
  • Kom Ombo Temples, where you'll find 2 of everything: entrances, colonnades, courts, hypostyle halls, and even sanctuaries, as the temple is dedicated to the 2 gods Sobek and Horus. And with its double design, make the temple perfectly symmetrical along its main axis.
  • Abu Simbel Temples, where the famous "Sun Festival" happens, which is an annual event where the sun penetrates the temple sanctuary and illuminates the statue of Ramesses II, celebrating his coronation on February 22, and Ramesses II's birthday on October 22.
  • Philae Temple, which was saved from flooding, and where the goddess Isis was worshipped.

What are the eras does this itinerary cover?

This short itinerary to Abu Simbel from Luxor covers a few ages that came across Egypt, which are:

  • The New Kingdom: for Abu Simbel, which showcases the power of Ramesses II and reflects the engineering and military advancement of the era.
  • Ptolemaic Period: for Edfu Temple, as it was built during the times of the Greek rulers of Egypt after Alexander the Great. And despite its Greek era, the Edfu temple is made in a totally Egyptian style, indicating that the Greek rulers adapted to the ancient Egyptian traditions, not the other way around.
  • Roman Period: for both Kom Ombo Temple and Philae Temple as their construction process continued in the times of the Romans.
