Sunrise trip to St Catherine's and Mountain Sinai -PDHSR1
A Magic Carpet Egypt representative will collect you from your Dahab hotel in a modern, air-conditioned vehicle at 11:30 p.m.
1. 11:30 PM – Departure from Dahab
Your trip begins by collecting you from your hotel in Dahab and heading via a private, air-conditioned vehicle for the approximately 1.5-hour drive inland toward Saint Catherine, leaving the coastal town behind as the desert mountains draw closer.
2. Arrival in Saint Catherine – Prepare for the Climb
On arrival, meet your Bedouin mountain guide and get ready for the uphill walk. Take a moment to organize your belongings, adjust your layers for the cold night air, and prepare for the climb ahead.
3. 2:00 AM–7:00 AM – The Mount Sinai Climb
Begin the ascent while much of the surrounding landscape is still dark. Follow your guide along the mountain trail, taking breaks when needed as you gradually gain elevation. The climb is a physical challenge, but the changing views and quiet atmosphere make the journey itself an important part of the experience.
4. Dawn – Take in the Sinai Mountain Views
Reach the upper mountain area and enjoy the early-morning light spreading across the surrounding peaks. Watch the colors of the landscape change as daylight reveals the rugged scenery of the Sinai Peninsula. Allow time to rest before beginning the descent.
5. Morning – Descend and Visit Saint Catherine’s Monastery
Make your way down the mountain and continue to Saint Catherine’s Monastery, a historic religious site at its base. Learn about its connection to Saint Catherine and the Christian heritage preserved here. Your visit is subject to the monastery’s opening hours and access arrangements on the day.
6. Breakfast at Saint Catherine
After the mountain walk, enjoy the breakfast included in your tour. Take a well-earned break before getting back on the road.
7. Return Journey to Dahab
Finally, your driver will take you back to your hotel in Dahab, where your overnight mountain excursion comes to an end.
Please note: The schedule may shift depending on the walking pace, weather, and local arrangements. The Mount Sinai climb requires good mobility and stamina. Bring warm clothing and sturdy walking shoes.
