Itinerary
Day 1: Luxor East Bank Tour
On the first day, your Egyptologist guide will meet you at your hotel or Luxor International Airport to take you on an exploration of the East Bank.
Step into the grandeur of Karnak Temple, the largest ancient temple dedicated to the Theban triad of Amun, Mut, and their son Khonsu. Once connected to Luxor Temple by a sphinx-lined avenue, this temple was the site of the Opet Festival, where the statues of the Theban triad were carried in a procession to meet Amun-Ra (the solar form of god Amun) with Amun-Min (Amun's form in Luxor Temple). Lose yourself in the papyrus field of the hypostyle hall.
Continue your exploration at Luxor Temple, entering through the immense pylon of Ramses II, admiring his monumental colossi, and the unique obelisk (the other having been gifted to France by Viceroy Mehmet Ali).
The site also houses a Roman chapel and a mosque, standing proudly atop ancient temple columns.
Day 2: Luxor West Bank Tour Part 1
The second day takes you to the West Bank, starting with a visit to the Valley of the Kings, a testament to the pharaohs' glory. This valley, chosen as a royal necropolis after the treasure of the Pyramids in lower Egypt was plundered, holds 63 tombs carved into the mountainside. Among them is the famous tomb of the young King Tutankhamun. Venture inside a royal tomb and marvel at the colorful scenes depicted on the walls.
Next, you will be mesmerized by the Memorial Temple of Hatshepsut. The impressive cliff surrounding the site is captivating, but it is the temple at its foot that truly steals the show. The temple's architecture blends seamlessly with the refined cliff.
The final stop on the West Bank is the Colossi of Memnon, two colossal statues standing proudly with their gaze fixed on the Nile. These statues guarded Amenhotep's memorial temple, once the largest and most opulent in Egypt, where Amenhotep was worshipped as a god.
At the end of this incredible tour, your guide will return you to your hotel.
Day 3: Luxor West Bank Tour Part 2
Your guide will take you up from your accommodation at 8:00 am the next day so you can start your adventure. Cross the Nile via Luxor Bridge, enjoying the agricultural lands, small villages, and scenic mountain views.
The majestic Ramesseum temple, the memorial temple of the famous King Ramses II, also known as Ramses the Great, is where you should start. Here, you will find the remains of the colossus of King Ramses II, the largest granite statue ever crafted to such a high standard.
Next, you will visit Dier El Madina, the worker's village where artists, craftsmen, and workers who built and decorated the royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings resided.
Then, visit the Tombs of the Nobles, the burial place of powerful courtiers of the ancient city, including high-ranking government officials, scribes, and powerful priests. These tombs offer invaluable insights into everyday life and funerary customs of the time.
Your tour concludes with a visit to the Valley of the Queens, known as "the place of beauty" in ancient times. The royal wives and princesses of Egypt's New Kingdom are buried here.
You will be driven back to your hotel following the trip.
